80 & STILL FREE: Photography and Scale Models Unite to Honor Baguio’s 80th Liberation through an Exhibit

Baguio City, Philippines – A powerful exhibition marks Baguio City’s 80th Liberation Day, born from the collaborative efforts of photographers and scale modelers. Organized by Atty. Sam Gallardo, Treasurer of IPMS  and Mr. Art Tibaldo, the exhibit offers a fresh and engaging perspective on the city’s rich history and enduring spirit.

The photographs curated by Art Tibaldo, captures the essence of Baguio, its people, and its landmarks with striking imagery. Complementing this visual narrative are crafted scale models, curated by Atty. Sam Gallardo, depicting significant moments and scenes from the city’s past. This unique juxtaposition creates a compelling dialogue, inviting viewers to experience history in a tangible and visually stunning way.

“We see the importance of the World War II stories for the next generation, the stories we grew up in from our parents, (and) grandparents who witnessed the war. We were lucky that we were able to hear from them their actual stories, their lives, (and) how they lived. But as time passes, the eye witnesses will no longer be here to tell the same stories to the next generation and I am afraid that will happen,” said lawyer Samuel Gallardo, team leader of the “80 and still free” photo and multimedia exhibit at the SM City Baguio mall.

The exhibition is currently open to the public and will run until May 5th at the Lower Basement of SM City Baguio. This is a must-see event for history enthusiasts, art lovers, and anyone who holds a special place in their heart for Baguio City.
