Have you ever encountered the question “if you were given a chance to dine with a famous person, dead or alive, who would it be and why?”

Have you ever planned for something and waited decades before it happen? Have you ever had that patience and excitement to have a conversation with someone you respect, admire, and look up to after your mom?

We planned to have lunch last semester but it was postponed and rescheduled over and over until I got shy to move forward with it until it finally cam just recently.

The Ultimate Lunch Date I ever had was with someone who showed me that there are instructors who love to teach–instructors who teach not because they need to but because they love their job. We had K-food buffet at Samgyeopsal Buffet at the Poland’s Building, which lasted for about three hours straight. Eating and having a conversation with her is just like me talking to my mom but in a different way or a different sense. Ha ha.

She had the aura of my mom and smiles so wide it’s contagious. She is one of the people I respect the most as her ways of teaching are not ordinary. I would call her a “Creative Instructor” or an “Artist” in the sense of teaching. Her mastery falls under literature and she could tell you all these amazing fictional stories like the characters are there in front of you.

Some students may not like her and they might even despise her for how she teaches or how she manages her class. Others would not understand her, mostly because they go with the flow with the norms. They would not get what she wants the students to get, maybe because that is human nature: afraid of change, fear of the unknown, unwilling and lazy to work out those brain cells.

Oh well. We cannot blame anyone for what we were accustomed to, for how we were raised, or for how we see things. I just hope that we all learn the lessons we could learn from each other, be it something good or enlightening or may it open our eyes to something that will lead us to the right path.

Our lunch ended with me suddenly on the Essay Writing list for ESLympics and her trying out this new supplement. We parted ways laughing and smiling and we just a had a little talk with the cab driver on our way back to school, and a prompt that I will be talking more about blogging and we might be going out soon again, who knows? 😀
